%E3%80%80As+part+of+an+organizational+restructuring+effective+April+1%2C+%3Cb%3ENYK%3C%2Fb%3E+changed+the+name+of+its+%E2%80%9CESG+Strategy+Headquarters%E2%80%9C+to+%E2%80%9CSustainability+%26+Transformation+Headquarters.%E2%80%9C+We+spoke+to+Managing+Executive+Officer+Yuko+Tsutsui%2C+who+took+on+the+new+role+of+Chief+Executive+of+Sustainability+%26+Transformation+Headquarters+on+the+same+day%2C+about+her+aspirations+and+leadership.+%3Cbr%3E%28Interviewer%3A+Satoshi+Yamada%29+%3Cbr%3E+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--Why+did+you+change+the+name%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CIn+2021%2C+we+released+the+%E2%80%99%3Cb%3ENYK%3C%2Fb%3E+Group+ESG+Story%2C%E2%80%99+which+summarizes+our+ESG+%28Environmental%2C+Social%2C+and+Governance%29+management+measures.+We+also+established+the+ESG+Management+Promotion+Group+as+an+organization+reporting+directly+to+the+president.+The+top+management+had+a+strong+desire+to+place+ESG+at+the+heart+of+management+as+part+of+the+growth+strategy.+In+order+to+quickly+change+the+company%E2%80%99s+culture+and+awareness%2C+they+placed+importance+on+making+the+organization%E2%80%99s+name+easy+to+understand.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CThe+effect+of+top+management+taking+the+lead+in+explaining+ESG+was+great%2C+and+the+idea+of+ESG+has+now+become+widespread+within+the+company.+During+this+time%2C+the+word+sustainability+became+widely+used.+We+changed+the+name+of+the+organization+with+the+intention+of+moving+from+the+change+in+awareness+phase+to+the+implementation+phase.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--What+is+your+role+within+the+%3Cb%3ENYK%3C%2Fb%3E+Group%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CThe+subtitle+of+our+medium-term+management+plan+is+%E2%80%99A+Passion+for+Planetary+Wellbeing.%E2%80%99+Like+this%2C+we+clearly+state+that+sustainability+is+at+the+core+of+our+growth+strategy.+Rather+than+being+passive%2C+we+will+take+the+lead+in+tackling+environmental+regulations+and+other+issues%2C+making+them+a+driving+force+for+growth.+Our+role+is+to+link+sustainability+initiatives+with+growth+strategies.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CSpecifically%2C+we+will+work+on+action+and+activation.+The+action+will+be+taken+by+the+%E2%80%99Decarbonization+Group%2C%E2%80%99+which+will+formulate+specific+measures+toward+decarbonization+and+put+them+into+action.+Activation+is+motivational+and+will+be+handled+by+the+%E2%80%99Sustainability+Management+Group.%E2%80%99+We+aim+to+realize+our+sustainability+strategy+using+these+two+pillars.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--What+are+your+aspirations+as+chief%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CI+returned+from+my+secondment+to+the+Cabinet+Office%E2%80%99s+Regulatory+Reform+Council+and+was+assigned+to+the+CSR+%28Corporate+Social+Responsibility%29+Promotion+Group.+With+the+establishment+of+ISO+26000+%28an+international+standard+on+social+responsibility%29+and+guidelines+for+integrated+reports%2C+I+felt+that+the+tide+was+changing+regarding+corporate+evaluation.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CAt+the+Davos+Forum+%28the+World+Economic+Forum%E2%80%99s+annual+meeting%29+and+other+forums%2C+climate+change%2C+biodiversity%2C+infectious+diseases%2C+and+other+global+risks+were+cited.+However%2C+I+was+skeptical+as+to+whether+these+ideas+would+actually+come+to+fruition.+The+coronavirus+has+completely+changed+that.%E2%80%9D+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CSince+the+coronavirus+pandemic%2C+the+non-financial+value+of+a+company+has+rapidly+come+into+focus.+Not+only+financial+value+but+also+human+resources+and+governance+are+now+recognized+as+corporate+value.+We+would+like+to+promote+sustainability+activities+that+are+unique+to+the+%3Cb%3ENYK%3C%2Fb%3E+Group+and+contribute+to+improving+corporate+value.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%96%A0+Speed+and+flexibility+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--How+will+you+steer%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CI+participated+in+COP26+%28the+26th+Conference+of+the+Parties+to+the+United+Nations+Framework+Convention+on+Climate+Change%29+held+in+Glasgow%2C+UK+in+2021.+There%2C+I+witnessed+Europe+forging+ahead+toward+decarbonization%2C+and+it+seemed+to+me+like+Europe+was+trying+to+regain+its+hegemony+between+major+powers+like+the+United+States+and+China.+I+think+that+has+gone+a+little+too+far%2C+and+we+are+now+seeing+a+backlash.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CEven+though+there+are+setbacks%2C+there+are+some+places+that+are+making+bold+efforts+to+address+environmental+issues.+The+time+has+come+to+move+on+without+any+fuss.+It%E2%80%99s+difficult%2C+but+also+fun.+We+will+send+personnel+to+London%2C+England%2C+and+Brussels%2C+Belgium%2C+to+gather+the+latest+information+and+respond+with+speed+and+flexibility.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--What+are+your+key+issues%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CThere+are+two+things+we+would+like+to+achieve+by+FY+2026%2C+the+final+fiscal+year+of+our+medium-term+management+plan.+One+is+to+clarify+the+implementation+plan+for+achieving+net-zero+GHG+%28greenhouse+gas%29+emissions+by+2050.+We+have+taken+every+possible+measure+to+reduce+GHG+emissions.+It+is+becoming+increasingly+di
