%E3%80%80We+spoke+with+Dominik+Schneiter%2C+CEO+%28Chief+Executive+Officer%29+of+%3Cb%3EWinGD%3C%2Fb%3E+%28headquartered+in+Switzerland%29%2C+one+of+the+world%E2%80%99s+three+major+licensors+of+low-speed+two-stroke+marine+engines+%28main+engines%29%2C+about+the+company%E2%80%99s+future+strategy.+%3Cbr%3E%28Interviewer%3A+Yoshinori+Gomi%29+%3Cbr%3E+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--What+are+%3Cb%3EWinGD%3C%2Fb%3E%E2%80%99s+distinguishing+features%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CWe+are+developing+a+platform+that+operates+efficiently+in+all+fuel+modes%E2%80%94in+other+words%2C+a+base+engine+that+offers+superior+performance+even+with+conventional+fuels.+The+concept+is+%E2%80%99Easy+Adapt%2C%E2%80%99+which+simplifies+systems+and+makes+installation+easier.+We+offer+not+only+conventional+heavy-fuel-oil-fired+diesel-cycle+engines%2C+but+have+also+added+engines+for+new+fuels+such+as+LNG+%28liquefied+natural+gas%29%2C+methanol%2C+LPG+%28liquefied+petroleum+gas%29%2C+and+ammonia+to+our+lineup.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CThese+new-fuel+engines+can+be+used+not+only+for+newbuilds+but+also+for+retrofitting+existing+ships.+In+addition+to+engines%2C+we+are+also+developing+integrated+electrical+solutions%2C+including+the+%E2%80%99X-EL%E2%80%99+shaft+generator+that+operates+in+conjunction+with+the+engine.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CFor+conventional-fuel+engines%2C+we+offer+a+lineup+with+bores+%28cylinder+diameters%29+ranging+from+52+to+92+centimeters%2C+suitable+for+medium-sized+to+large+vessels.+The+LNG-fueled+type+covers+bores+of+52+to+92+centimeters%2C+the+ammonia-fueled+type+covers+bores+of+52+to+82+centimeters%2C+and+the+methanol-fueled+type+covers+bores+of+52+to+92+centimeters.+Most+recently%2C+an+LPG%2Fammonia+carrier+for+the+Belgian+shipping+company+Exmar%2C+equipped+with+the+world%E2%80%99s+first+ammonia-fueled+engine%2C+the+%E2%80%99X52DF-A%2C%E2%80%99+was+completed.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%96%A0+Promoting+development+and+expanding+orders+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--What+is+the+order+track+record+for+new-fuel+engines+among+licensees+around+the+world%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CThe+number+of+LNG-fueled+engines+featuring+low-pressure+fuel+supply+and+a+premixed+lean-burn+fuel+system+have+surpassed+1%2C000+units.+In+addition%2C+about+100+methanol-fueled+engines+and+about+40+ammonia-fueled+engines+have+been+ordered.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CWe+were+the+first+to+bring+LNG-fueled+engines+with+low-pressure+fuel+supply+to+market.+As+container+ships+continue+to+grow+larger%2C+we+believe+a+high-pressure+fuel+supply+will+also+be+necessary%2C+and+we+are+moving+forward+with+its+development.+The+bore+is+expected+to+be+82+to+92+centimeters.+We+aim+to+ship+the+first+unit+in+2028.+We+are+also+developing+an+LPG-fueled+engine+with+a+bore+of+52+to+62+centimeters+that+can+also+be+converted+to+run+on+ammonia+fuel%2C+and+expect+to+launch+it+in+2027.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CIn+addition%2C+we+are+also+developing+the+ethanol-fueled+engine+%E2%80%99X-DF-M%2FE%E2%80%99+based+on+a+methanol-fueled+engine.+We+want+to+enable+the+use+of+both+methanol+and+ethanol+so+that+either+can+be+selected+depending+on+price+trends+and+other+factors.+We+aim+to+have+licensees+begin+production+in+2028.+We+have+already+received+inquiries+from+several+customers.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CMore+recently%2C+a+Chinese+licensee+successfully+conducted+an+ethanol+combustion+test+using+its+test+engine%2C+and+another+Chinese+licensee+received+its+first+order+for+the+seven-cylinder%2C+82-cm-bore+%E2%80%99X82DF-M%2FE%E2%80%99+for+two+325%2C000-DWT+dedicated+ore+carriers.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%96%A0+Also+focusing+on+medium-sized+vessels+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--What+new+initiatives+are+you+pursuing+besides+new-fuel+engines%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CWe+are+focusing+not+only+on+engines+for+large+vessels%2C+but+also+on+conventional-fuel+engines+in+the+52-+to+62-centimeter+bore+class+for+medium-sized+vessels.+Target+vessels+include+Handysize+bulkers%2C+Aframax+tankers%2C+and+feeder+container+ships.+Handysize+bulkers+are+a+vessel+type+in+which+Japanese+shipbuilders+excel%2C+and+engines+developed+by+%3Cb%3EWinGD%3C%2Fb%3E+have+also+been+ordered+in+Japan+for+this+vessel+type.+The+strength+of+%3Cb%3EWinGD%3C%2Fb%3E-developed+engines+lies+in+their+fuel+efficiency%2C+which+allows+them+to+comply+with+EEDI+%28Energy+Efficiency+Design+Index%29+Phase+3+and+similar+standards.+We+also+consider+this+field+important.+In+addition%2C+we+will+provide+comprehensive+support+to+improve+customers%E2%80%99+propulsion+efficiency%2C+including+through+the+shaft+generator+%E2%80%9CX-EL%E2%80%9C.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CIn+addition%2C+we+have+established+a+dedicated+department+to+focus+not+only+on+newbuilds+but+also+on+retrofits.+By+leveraging+the+expertise+accumulated+through+engine+design%2C+we+will+pursue+more+suitable+retrofit+solutions.+At+the+same+time%2C+we+would+also+like+to+become+involved+as+a+licensor+in+after-sales+services+that+licensees+have+han
