s+work+together+to+build+the+huge+ships+that+support+people%E2%80%99s+lives%2C+is+inherently+a+job+that+gives+people+a+strong+sense+of+pride.+But+we+need+to+increase+the+earning+power+and+make+it+a+more+attractive+industry.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CI+think+everyone+involved+in+shipbuilding+would+agree+with+this+general+statement.+However%2C+there+have+been+efforts+in+the+past+to+seek+collaboration+between+Japanese+shipyards%2C+such+as+consolidating+design+functions+to+a+certain+extent%2C+but+these+efforts+did+not+come+to+fruition+as+there+was+%E2%80%98agreement+on+the+general+idea+but+disagreement+on+the+details%E2%80%99.+The+idea+is+that+this+parent+organization+will+now+have+the+function+that+has+been+lacking+until+now%3A+%E2%80%98the+function+of+formulating+specific+strategies+and+measures+to+realize+the+general+theory%E2%80%99.+How+this+organization+will+be+positioned+within+the+Japanese+shipbuilding+industry+and+how+it+will+be+specifically+utilized+will+be+up+for+discussion+in+the+future.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%96%A0+Standardization+for+general+commercial+ships+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--As+a+concrete+measure%2C+they+plan+to+first+begin+joint+studies+aimed+at+establishing+standard+specifications+and+ship+designs+for+LCO2+ships%2C+and+then%2C+as+a+next+step%2C+to+expand+the+scope+of+the+studies+to+include+new+fuel+ships+such+as+ammonia-fired+ships.+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CThe+standard+hull+type+for+LCO2+ships+is+being+jointly+developed+by+the+Japanese+3+big+carriers%2C+NSY%2C+Mitsubishi+Shipbuilding%2C+MITSUI+%26+CO.%2C+LTD.%2C+and+Mitsubishi+Corporation%2C+and+two+ship+types%2C+a+50%2C000+cubic+meter+class+and+a+23%2C000+cubic+meter+class%2C+have+already+received+Approval+in+Principle+%28AiP%29+from+the+classification+society.+The+LCO2+ships+will+be+based+on+Mitsubishi+Shipbuilding%E2%80%99s+technology%2C+and+we+have+already+agreed+to+establish+standard+specifications+for+this+type+of+ship%2C+so+we+believe+we+will+be+able+to+build+a+standard+ship+type+relatively+quickly.%E2%80%9D+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9COn+the+other+hand%2C+it+will+take+some+time+for+ammonia-fueled+ships.+Efforts+toward+ammonia-fueled+ships+are+essential+from+the+perspective+of+decarbonization%2C+and+in+August+last+year%2C+we+completed+construction+of+an+ammonia-fueled+tugboat%2C+the+world%E2%80%99s+first+ammonia-fueled+ship+designed+for+commercial+use.+However%2C+because+the+global+infrastructure+for+supplying+ammonia+fuel+has+yet+to+be+developed%2C+it+will+be+some+time+before+ammonia-fueled+ships+become+a+reality+for+general+commercial+ships.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--In+this+situation%2C+at+what+stage+do+you+expect+other+Japanese+shipbuilding+companies+to+join+the+alliance%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CThis+is+not+a+%3Cb%3ENYK%3C%2Fb%3E+idea+but+a+personal+opinion%2C+but+I+think+that+the+Japanese+3+big+carriers+should+move+forward+with+standardizing+ship+types+to+a+certain+extent+for+general+commercial+ships+as+the+next+step+after+LCO2+ships.+The+specifications+for+new+general+commercial+ships+are+unique+to+each+Japanese+carrier%2C+reflecting+their+own+particular+preferences+and+functions.+The+existence+of+these+unique+specifications+has+placed+a+burden+on+the+Japanese+shipbuilding+industry%2C+gradually+robbing+it+of+its+competitiveness.+This+is+because+each+shipyard+has+no+choice+but+to+focus+on+custom-made+construction%2C+which+makes+Japan+less+efficient+overall.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CIf+we+could+create+a+standard+hull+form+with+a+certain+degree+of+unification+in+design+for+the+types+of+ships+that+the+Japanese+3+big+carriers+are+building+in+Japan%2C+such+as+Capesize+bulkers+and+LNG+fueled+PCTCs%2C+the+shipyard%E2%80%99s+construction+efficiency+would+increase+dramatically.+Achieving+this+would+bring+clear+benefits+to+shipyards.+If+that+happens%2C+other+Japanese+shipbuilding+companies+may+seriously+consider+joining+the+organization.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--When+do+you+think+other+Japanese+shipbuilding+companies+will+join+this+parent+organization+and+Japanese+shipyards+will+work+together+to+produce+concrete+results%3F+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%80%9CI+believe+that+we+should+chart+the+future+course+for+Japan%E2%80%99s+shipbuilding+industry+in+the+next+few+years.+There+is+no+time+to+spare%2C+so+speed+is+essential.+As+mentioned+above%2C+we+believe+that+the+construction+of+standard+LCO2+%28liquefied+carbon+dioxide%29+ships+will+be+realized+relatively+soon.+In+parallel+with+this%2C+if+discussions+on+establishing+standard+hull+forms+for+general+commercial+ships+begin+to+take+shape%2C+it+is+likely+that+other+Japanese+shipbuilding+companies+will+be+able+to+join+forces+and+cooperate+with+each+other+quite+quickly.+As+far+as+establishing+a+standard+hull+size+for+general+commercial+ships+is+concerned%2C+we+can+get+started+right+away+if+the+Japanese+3+big+carriers+can+reach+an+agreement.%E2%80%9C+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80%E2%96%A0+Sharing+a+national+perspective+is+key+%3Cbr%3E%E3%80%80--What+are+the+key
